Day 1
Camel trek M’hamid – visit of the Sidi Naji dunes
This camel trekking tour from M’hamid, starts in the morning (8 AM).
M’hamid El Ghizlane is the last Oasis before the desert. This village is the main point for many Sahara camel tours in Morocco. So, your 7-day Morocco camel trekking tour is from M’hamid.
A turban on your head, the caravan is now ready to go for this trip in the desert. The camels carry equipment and provisions. You enjoy 2 to 3 hours of Sahara hike in the morning. At noon, break in the shade of the tamaris for lunch.
Your Morocco camel trek continues in the afternoon to the tomb of the Sidi Naji marabout, a place of pilgrimage for the Nouaji tribe. You install the camping at the foot dunes to Sidi Naji. Dinner around a campfire under the shiny stars.
Day 2
Morocco camel trekking from Sidi Naji to Erg Zahar
On the second day of your Morocco desert trekking from M’hamid, you leave the dunes of Sidi Naji and you take the direction of Erg Zahar.
The dunes of Erg Zahar are also called “screaming dunes”. They emit a crystalline sound in contact with the wind. The view on the Sahara desert is impregnable. You enjoy this beautiful landscapes and a beautiful sunset on the Erg Zahar dunes. The overnight is planned there, in a wild camp in the Sahara.
Day 3
On the path of the Sahrawi caravans : Erg Zahar to Erg Smar
The third day of your 7-day camel trek M’hamid is devoted to a trip to Erg Smar. The Morocco desert hike is a perfect way to discover new landscapes in the Sahara.
The hamadas (desert plateau) and ergs (dunes) follow one another. You spend your third night at the foot of the dunes of Erg Smar.
Day 4
Camel trek M’hamid : the great Erg Chigaga dunes
If you want to go trekking from M’hamid to the big dunes of Erg Chigaga, you need to spend at least 6 days beacause of the distance. One of the reasons for choosing this 7-day desert trek from M’hamid is the discovery of the great dunes of Erg Chigaga.
Your hiking trip starts after breakfast. Departure from Erg Smar for the great dunes of Erg Chigaga, called also the “sea of sand”.
Erg Chigaga is home to ones of the largest dunes in the Moroccan desert. The landscapes are really beautiful.
After your daily walk, you install with your guides the nomadic tents at Erg Chigaga to spend the overnight there.
Day 5
Erg Chegaga – Erg Bougarne
The next day, camel trek in the morning for about 2 hours. You will leave Erg Chigaga to go to another dunes in the Sahara – Erg Bougarne. The dunes of Erg Bougarne are located in the spot of an old oasis. They are a beautiful place to visit. You will stop there for the night. Dinner around a campfire.
Day 6
Discover Erg Bougarne and Oued Naam during this camel trek M’hamid
On the sixth day of your Morocco camel trekking trip, you take the way to visit Oued Naam.
Hiking about 5 hours during the day. You will spend the night at Oued Naam.
Day 7
Oued Naam – back to M’hamid village
This is the last day of your Sahara trekking tour from M’hamid.
The nomadic camp is bent, the camels are loaded and the caravan takes the direction of M’hamid.
Arrival in the village in the afternoon.
